The Titan® Plus Elite is Brooklyn Bedding's most advanced mattress for plus-size and heavier sleepers. It's a 14.5" dual-coil hybrid purpose-built to deliver the support, cooling, and durability that larger bodies require and that standard mattresses consistently fail to provide.

It comes in a single firm feel and is at its best for back and combination sleepers at heavier body weights who prioritize long-term support and cooling over deep pressure relief. If plush contouring or dedicated pressure relief is your top priority — or if you're under 200 lbs — other options in our showroom will likely serve you better. But if you've been let down by mattresses that sag, overheat, or lose their structure under heavier loads, the Titan Plus Elite deserves serious consideration.

Firmness, Construction, and Performance

At The Drift, we take mattresses (and your sleep) seriously. That starts with what your bed is made of and how that translates to its feel and durability. Let's dive in.

Feel & Firmness

  • Firmness Level: The Titan Plus Elite comes in a single firmness rated around a 7/10 (medium-firm to firm). There are no soft or very firm variants, so testing this one in person is especially important before committing.
  • Feel Description: The 2" GlacioTex+ pillow top gives the surface an initial plushness that's softer than the underlying firmness suggests, but the overall character of this mattress is structured and supportive. The dual-coil system creates a stable, resilient base that pushes back with purpose rather than allowing you to sink through. This isn't a mattress that wraps around you — it's one that holds you up.
  • Our Take: The Titan Plus Elite's rating profile tells the real story. Support, cooling, ease of movement, and edge support are all strong, because that's what this mattress is designed to do. The pressure relief score of 5.5/10 is the honest trade-off: the firm, high-density construction that makes this mattress so durable and supportive for heavier bodies means it doesn't contour deeply around pressure points the way a softer hybrid would. For heavier back and combination sleepers, that's the right exchange. For heavier side sleepers who need significant shoulder and hip relief, it's worth testing carefully in the showroom before deciding.

Construction & Materials

Height: 14.5"

Design: Dual-coil hybrid with a plush cooling pillow top, engineered specifically for plus-size and heavier sleepers. ACA (American Chiropractic Association) endorsed. Made in the USA.

Layer Breakdown:

  1. GlacioTex+ Cooling Cloud Pillow Top (2"): Cool-to-the-touch quilted pillow top with phase change material that draws heat away from the body for consistent all-night temperature regulation. Adds surface softness without compromising the support below.
  2. TitanFlex™ Comfort Foam: High-density responsive foam that contours to the body while resisting the compression and sagging that standard comfort foams experience under heavier loads over time.
  3. ¾" Microcoil Layer: Individually wrapped miniature coils that add targeted pressure response, improve airflow through the comfort layer, and absorb motion before it travels across the surface.
  4. VariFlex™ Transition Foam: High-density transition layer that bridges the comfort system and coil base, distributing weight evenly and preventing pressure points.
  5. TitanCore™ Individually Encased Coil Base: Heavy-gauge individually wrapped coils tested to support up to 1,000 lbs, with full perimeter reinforcement for consistent edge support and deep compression support throughout.

Why It Matters: Standard mattresses aren't built for heavier body weights — comfort foams compress, coils lose tension, and edges collapse. The Titan Plus Elite addresses each of those failure points: high-density foams resist sagging, heavy-gauge TitanCore coils handle sustained load, and the dual-coil design means the comfort and support systems each do targeted work. CertiPUR-US® certified foams throughout.

Sleep Position Ratings

Limited—and worth testing carefully. The medium-firm feel and lower pressure relief score mean the mattress doesn't contour deeply around the shoulders and hips. Heavier side sleepers who need significant pressure relief may find this mattress too firm. We recommend testing it alongside the Titan Plus Luxe, which offers a more medium feel with more surface give.

Excellent. This is the strongest position for this mattress. The firm, zoned coil base provides outstanding lumbar support for heavier back sleepers, keeping the spine aligned without the hips sinking too far into the comfort layers. A standout option for plus-size back sleepers who've struggled to find adequate support.

Good. The firm surface keeps the hips from sinking, which is exactly what heavier stomach sleepers need for proper spinal alignment. One of the better options we carry for stomach sleepers at higher body weights.

Excellent. The high ease-of-movement score makes repositioning effortless despite the firmness, and the responsive dual-coil system reacts quickly to shifts in position. A great match for heavier combination sleepers.

Final Verdict

The Titan Plus Elite is the most structurally capable mattress we carry for heavier and plus-size sleepers. It's a dual-coil hybrid that takes support, durability, and cooling seriously from the ground up. Its ratings profile is intentional: this mattress prioritizes the things heavier sleepers need most (support, cooling, ease of movement, edge integrity) and trades some pressure relief to get there. For the right sleeper, that's exactly the right trade.

Best For

  • Plus-size and heavier sleepers (250 lbs+) who need a mattress built for their body weight
  • Heavier back and stomach sleepers who need firm, sustained lumbar support
  • Heavier combination sleepers who move frequently and need a responsive surface
  • Heavier couples sharing a bed who want above-average motion isolation
  • Hot sleepers at higher body weights who need serious cooling

Not Ideal For

  • Heavier side sleepers who need significant shoulder and hip pressure relief should consider the Titan Plus Luxe instead
  • Sleepers under 200 lbs: many other mattresses on our floor will provide a better balanced feel at lower body weights
  • Those who want multiple firmness options to choose from
  • Sleepers who prefer a deep, slow-sinking memory foam feel

A Few Buying Tips to Consider

  • The Titan Plus Elite mattress has a single firmness, so what you test in the showroom is what arrives at your door. Spend real time in your primary sleep position before deciding.
  • If you're a heavier side sleeper, test this one and the Plank Firm Luxe back to back. The Titan Plus Elite has a softer, more contouring feel that may be a better fit for side sleeping needs. Our team can walk you through the differences.
  • Test the edges. The TitanCore™ coil system is genuinely strong at the perimeter — sit on the edge, lie near the side — and compare it against other mattresses on the floor. It's a meaningful real-world advantage for daily use.
  • The GlacioTex+ cooling pillow top makes this mattress feel softer than the medium-firm description suggests at first contact. Give yourself time to settle in and feel how the support layer responds to your full body weight before drawing conclusions.
  • Confirm your bed frame or foundation is rated for the weight of both the mattress and your body; this is an important consideration that's easy to overlook.

Bring a Pillow

Bring your usual pillow and lie in your go-to position for at least 10-15 minutes. Your body will tell you what you need to know.

Bring Your Partner

Shopping as a couple? Have one partner lie still while the other shifts to test motion transfer and partner disturbance.

Check the Edge

Sit on the edge to test edge support and feel how stable it is for reading, lounging, or getting up at night.

Check the Height

Taller mattresses need deeper fitted sheets and more bed frame clearance. Our staff can help you think through compatibility before you buy.
