The Brooklyn Bedding Sedona is the entry point into Brooklyn Bedding's airflow-engineered Sedona lineup -- a 13" dual-coil hybrid that leads with a GlacioTex™ cooling cover, a responsive microcoil comfort layer, and a foam-encased 1200 Series zoned coil base, all working together around a 360° airflow design that carries heat and moisture away from the entire perimeter of the mattress.

Available in Soft, Medium, and Firm -- we carry the Medium in our showroom. For hot sleepers, side sleepers at average body weights, and combination sleepers who want active cooling built into a well-structured dual-coil hybrid, the Sedona is one of the more compelling new additions to our floor.

MEET THE BROOKLYN SEDONA MATTRESS

Firmness, Construction, and Performance

At The Drift, we take mattresses (and your sleep) seriously. That starts with what your bed is made of and how that translates to its feel and durability. Let's dive in.

Brooklyn Bedding Sedona at The Drift Mattress Store - Side View

Feel & Firmness

  • Firmness Level: Available in Soft, Medium, and Firm. We carry the Medium in our showroom, which sits around 5 to 5.5 out of 10. The Soft is best for side sleepers and lighter body weights; the Medium is the most versatile starting point for most sleepers; the Firm suits back and stomach sleepers who need more surface resistance.
  • Feel Description: The GlacioTex™ cover is immediately cool to the touch and stays that way. The memory foam and quilt layers beneath it provide a gentle, contouring quality -- your body sinks in slightly, pressure distributes, and the microcoil layer adds a secondary layer of responsive support before the 1200 Series coil base provides deep structural lift. The 360° mesh gusset wrapping the entire perimeter keeps air moving through the mattress from all sides, not just the top. The overall character is cool, balanced, and responsive.
  • Our Take: The Sedona's 9.5 cooling score is the most striking result in the profile, and it reflects genuine engineering rather than a single feature. The GlacioTex™ cover, the open-cell memory foam, the microcoil airflow channel, and the 360° mesh gusset are each doing thermal work simultaneously. Pressure relief at 8.5 is equally impressive for a dual-coil hybrid, reflecting the memory foam and microcoil layers working together to cushion pressure points precisely. Edge support at 6.5 is the most honest trade-off -- the foam-encased coil perimeter provides solid but not exceptional edge stability. For a hot sleeper who also needs pressure relief and motion isolation, the Sedona Medium is one of the more well-rounded floor models we carry.

Construction & Materials

Height: 13"

Design: Dual-coil hybrid with 360° airflow design. GlacioTex™ cooling cover standard. Soft, Medium, and Firm available. We carry the Medium in our showroom. GREENGUARD Gold Certified, CertiPUR-US® certified.

Layer Breakdown (Medium):

  1. GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover: Cool tech fibers remove excess heat from the sleep surface to prevent sleeping hot, keeping the sleep environment comfortable all night. The standard cooling cover on all three Sedona firmnesses.
  2. Quilt Foam (1"): A moisture-wicking breathable quilt layer that resists body impressions for consistent feel and appearance over time.
  3. Memory Quilt Foam (0.75"): A plush layer of memory foam blended into the quilt panel for extra contouring right at the sleep surface -- the first stage of pressure relief before the deeper comfort layers.
  4. HD 3.0 Memory Foam (1"): A 3lb high-density memory foam layer that provides adaptive body contouring and pressure relief in the Medium. Balances surface give with structural consistency.
  5. Microcoil Layer (0.75"): Individually wrapped miniature coils embedded in the comfort system that add responsive contouring support, create a secondary airflow channel through the comfort layer, and absorb motion before it travels to the main coil base.
  6. VariFlex Transition Foam (0.75"): A responsive transition foam that bridges the comfort system and the main coil base, enhancing contouring and distributing weight evenly.
  7. Foam-Encased 1200 Series Coil System (8"): Individually wrapped, foam-encased coils with zoned lumbar support and reinforced edge-to-edge stability. The foam encasement improves motion isolation and durability. Zoned construction places firmer coils under the lumbar region for spinal alignment.
  8. Supportive Base Foam (0.75"): The foundational layer that stabilizes the coil system and supports long-term durability.

360° Airflow Design: A black mesh spacer panel wraps the entire perimeter of the mattress, creating a continuous airflow channel that carries heat and moisture away from the edges -- cooling the mattress from all sides, not just the top surface.

Why It Matters: The Sedona's cooling score isn't driven by a single layer -- it's the result of four coordinated thermal systems: the GlacioTex™ cover at the surface, the open-cell memory foam in the comfort layer, the microcoil airflow channel in the comfort system, and the 360° mesh gusset around the perimeter. Each handles a different part of the thermal management challenge. The dual-coil construction -- microcoils above, 1200 Series below -- means the comfort and support systems each do targeted work rather than one layer trying to do both.

Our Ratings & Advice

We've tested over 1,000 mattresses in the last 10 years and helped serve better sleep to over 1 million shoppers. Our ratings are born out of lab-based testing and real world evaluations.

Performance Breakdown

CategoryOur RatingSummary
Pressure Relief8.5 / 10Outstanding for a dual-coil hybrid. The memory quilt foam, HD 3.0 memory foam, and microcoil layers work together to cushion pressure points at the shoulders and hips with more precision than a standard foam-over-coil system. One of the stronger pressure relief scores for any hybrid we carry.
Cooling9.5 / 10Very good. The foam-encased 1200 Series coil system with zoned lumbar support provides strong structural reinforcement for back and side sleepers at average body weights. Well-calibrated to the Medium feel.
Support8 / 10Very good. The Ascension X coil base provides solid structural support across sleep positions, with the VariFlex transition layer helping distribute weight evenly. Back sleepers at average body weights will find the lumbar support particularly well-calibrated to the medium firmness.
Motion Isolation8 / 10VVery good for a dual-coil hybrid. The memory foam layers and foam-encased coil design absorb meaningful partner movement before it crosses the surface -- better than most open-coil alternatives at this height.
Edge Support6.5 / 10Decent. The foam-encased perimeter provides functional edge stability but compresses more than a hybrid with dedicated reinforced edge coils. Comfortable for sleeping near the side; less ideal as a step-on point.
Ease of Movement7.5 / 10Good. The microcoil layer and 1200 Series coil base add responsive bounce that makes repositioning more natural than a foam-forward mattress. A solid score for combination sleepers.

Sleep Position Ratings

Very good for average-weight side sleepers in the Medium. The memory foam and microcoil comfort layers provide solid shoulder and hip pressure relief with strong cooling performance. Lightweight side sleepers under 130 lbs may want to test the Soft option; heavier side sleepers above 230 lbs should compare the Sedona Elite for deeper comfort construction.

Very good. The zoned 1200 Series coil base and medium feel work well together for back sleepers at average body weights. The lumbar zoning provides targeted lower back reinforcement without the hips sinking too far into the comfort layers.

Good for average-weight stomach sleepers. The medium feel and zoned coil system prevent excessive hip sink for most stomach sleepers up to around 200 lbs. Heavier stomach sleepers should compare with the Firm option.

Very good. The 7.5 ease-of-movement score and dual-coil responsiveness make repositioning natural throughout the night. An excellent fit for combination sleepers who also sleep warm.

Final Verdict

The Brooklyn Bedding Sedona is one of the most cooling-focused dual-coil hybrids we carry -- a well-engineered 13" hybrid that earns a 9.5 cooling score through four simultaneous thermal mechanisms and backs it up with strong pressure relief (8.5), support (8.0), and motion isolation (8.0) in the Medium feel. Edge support at 6.5 is the honest trade-off.

For hot sleepers, side sleepers, and combination sleepers who want active, sustained cooling from a well-built dual-coil hybrid, the Sedona is a focused and compelling recommendation.

Best For

  • ✓ Hot sleepers who want four-layer coordinated cooling in a dual-coil hybrid
  • ✓ Average-weight side sleepers who want strong pressure relief alongside exceptional cooling
