Feel & Firmness

  • Firmness Level: The Plank Firm is flippable with two distinct firmness levels. The Firm side sits around an 8 out of 10 and offers a traditional firm feel with a thin comfort layer at the surface. The Extra-Firm side sits at a 9 to 9.5 out of 10 and provides essentially zero give -- just the flat, unyielding surface of the high-density foam base. Both sides are available to test in our showroom.
  • Feel Description: There is very little to describe in terms of contouring or pressure relief because neither side of this mattress is designed to provide those things. On the Firm side, you'll notice a thin quilted surface that adds a slight hint of cushion before transitioning into the dense foam below. On the Extra-Firm side, you're sleeping directly on the quilted cover over the high-density core -- a completely flat, solid surface with no give whatsoever. On both sides, your body stays on top of the mattress rather than sinking into it.

  1. Quilted Cover with Track-and-Jump Stitching: Minimal-loft cover designed to keep the surface flat and firm. Track-and-jump stitching prevents the quilting from adding any unnecessary softness to the feel.
  2. Supreme Response Comfort Foam: A thin layer that adds a slight hint of surface cushion on the Firm side without compromising the overall firm character. Provides the modest pressure contact needed to distinguish this side from the Extra-Firm.
  3. High-Density Support Foam: A dense foam layer that delivers the firm, flat support the Plank is known for.

Extra-Firm Side (bottom/flipped)

  1. Quilted Cover: Minimal quilted cover directly over the high-density core -- no additional comfort foam layer on this side.
  2. High-Density Core Foam (6"): The full 6" high-density base is what you're sleeping on when the mattress is flipped to the Extra-Firm side. No intermediate layers, no give, no sink.

Cooling Upgrade: The optional GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover replaces the standard quilted cover with a phase change material (PCM) cool-to-the-touch cover for active, sustained temperature regulation. Open-cell foam technology throughout the mattress supports natural airflow, but the GlacioTex upgrade is the most meaningful cooling addition for consistent hot sleepers.

Sleep Position Ratings

Not recommended. The lack of pressure relief at the shoulders and hips makes the Plank Firm a poor fit for side sleeping at any body weight. Side sleepers should look elsewhere in our showroom.

Very good, particularly for those who prefer a firm surface or have been advised to sleep on one. The high-density base promotes neutral spinal alignment without any sinkage at the lumbar region. Heavier back sleepers may find the Extra-Firm side provides better sustained alignment over a full night.

Excellent -- arguably the strongest use case for this mattress across any body weight. The flat, firm surface keeps the hips level with the shoulders and prevents the spinal dip that causes lower back pain for stomach sleepers on softer mattresses. Both the Firm and Extra-Firm sides work well here, with heavier stomach sleepers often preferring the Extra-Firm.

Good for those who primarily sleep on their back or stomach and shift occasionally. The 9.0 ease of movement score makes repositioning completely natural, but combination sleepers who regularly move into side-sleeping positions will notice the pressure trade-off.
